I learned about HealthPATH because they came to our classrooms at Oakland Tech, introduced themselves, and told us what they’re all about. That really fascinated me that I could actually be in a hospital.
We spent some time in the ER, and I saw somebody pass away. It was a life-changing experience and it did take a toll on me, but I reflected on where I want to go and what I want to do.
My family is really proud of me and really supporting me in every way they can, which is beneficial, especially the long path that I search for — that’s college plus medical school plus residency — because I plan on being a sports medicine doctor. I just know that since I have that support system, I can do it.
I run track, and I’ve been hurt a lot. I’ve been at that low standpoint of being injured and not thinking I can do these things. If I can give that boost to another kid, if I can just help them get better, well that’s mainly why I want to go into sports medicine.
I’m just grateful that I’ve been here and been learning so much. It’s huge, life-changing, and I’m just really glad that I got to gain this experience.
