We believe Black Mothers and Birthing
People, and Black Families, deserve better.

Do something powerful.
Support Birth Justice and Black Families

Racism causes preventable birth complications and poor birth outcomes for Black mothers and babies. This is a crisis.

Black mothers are 4x more likely to die during childbirth and Black babies are significantly more likely to be born too soon, too small, and not survive to their first birthday. And mortality is just the tip of the iceberg. For every Black mother and baby who don’t survive birth, thousands more experience severe complications and traumatic experiences.

Beloved Birth Black Centering is an innovative group perinatal care program designed to provide care by, for, and with Black people, delivering holistic, culturally attuned, and racially concordant care rooted in health equity and birth justice. This midwifery-led, team-based model honors and celebrates Black birth and community while addressing the crisis of racism-based disparities in birth outcomes experienced by Black birthing people. It aims to uplift the voices of Black women and provide a “gold package of Black love” that enables them to thrive in birth and beyond!

And now Beloved is expanding to include Centering Parenting, a program to support Black mothers, babies, and families through the first year postpartum.

Beloved Birth Black Centering is a collaboration between Alameda Health System and Alameda County Public Health Department.
