Walter “Walt” Thompson spent many years helping others as a coordinator of Caribbean cultural events, school and team fundraisers and coaching youth soccer. Now with the creation of the Walter Thompson Fund you can add cancer patients to the list.
Before succumbing to the disease in August of 2014, Mr. Thompson always spoke of the positive impact cancer had on his life. According to family members he credited his battle with making him a better husband, father and human being.
“For me, his fund is about helping people to achieve some of that solace, grace and comfort as they traverse difficult paths of diagnosis and survival,” his son Mashama Thompson recalled. “Life isn’t a destination, it’s a dance. The point is to dance while the music is still playing. My dad loved to dance.”
Through his fund at Alameda Health System Foundation, he is ensuring others battling cancer continue to dance while the music is still playing. Will you?
